Suzuki is renowned for their motorcycles, engines,
and small all terrain vehicles.
It is a brand that has been on Zimbabwe’s roads for
a long time, especially the small 3-door Vitara and Jimny.
Suzuki was founded in 1909 in Japan. It began
vehicle production in 1937, beginning with motorcycles. The first car was
produced in 1955.
Today Suzuki is ranked among the top 20 automotive
producers in the world.
Over the years, the brand has had a long partnership
with General Motors, which ended in 2008. There have also been relationships
with VW and Toyota. In India, the brand dominates with compact vehicles through
Maruti Suzuki, a partnership with Maruti of India.
Suzuki in Zimbabwe is represented by Suzuki Motors,
which markets such models as Celerio, Splash, Ciaz, among others.
In the grey market some of the models include the
compact Swift and Alto.
