Kia Motors is the second largest vehicle manufacturer in South Korea, second to Hyundai, who partly own the brand.

Kia vehicles are distributed in Zimbabwe by Kia Motors Zimbabwe, a subsidiary of the Croco Motors Group. In the grey market, the Sportage is the most common or popular.

In South Africa the band is growing in leaps and bounds especially in the ever attractive SUV market.

The brand is highly regarded in the USA, where it was incorporated in 1992.

Kia was founded in December 1944. The first car was built in 1974.

Over the years, Kia grew by through collaborations, producing a lot of Ford and Mazda derivatives since 1986. Reputation was initially bad, but the company invested in their own brands and technology. Today the brand is considered as offering budget cars; inexpensive to buy and run.
